Why opposition parties failed in the 2010 General Election in Tanzania?
1. The ruling party CCM has very strong bases in various villages around the country where there is large number of voters while
2. Opposition parties have strong holds in urban centers were the number of voters is low but the euphoria is huge
3. The president has too much power to appoint and disappoint, this leads to a large number of senior government officials to be presidential appointees hence obedient to the president;
4. Power mongering, the big opposition parties of CUF, CHADEMA, NCCR were competing against each other instead of joining hands to present one candidate for the opposition, this lead to spread of votes and creation of weakness against opposition
